Flowers are small with 4 petals each of which has a notched indentation. Calyx fuses
basally to form a narrow tube; seed pods narrow and elongated. Leaves opposite,
lance-shaped, shallow toothed and sessile or nearly so. (Photographed - late August) |
An erect herb (1 to 3 feet tall) on the lakeshore with pink or white flowers (here
white, but unopened flowers pink) arising from the upper leaf axils. |
