Small colonies of this evergreen shrub develop from underground stems which send
up short branches with 2 to 4 white, bell-shaped flowers (~1/3") hanging below
the leaves. Flowers arise in the axils of shiny, deep green, poorly toothed leaves
(1 to 2" long) with a wintergreen aroma when crushed. Flowers narrowed at the
tip with 5 lobes. (Photographed - July) |
