An erect herb (1 to 4 feet tall) with a branching upper half. Stems and leaves hairy. Small blue, 5-petalled flowers. Seed pod and seeds with protruding hooked prickles. Leaves alternate, entire and elongated. (Photographed at Eagle Lake, July 2005)
