For such a relatively short plant, the branching flower stalk is quite long and bears
many, tiny, greenish to reddish, 6-parted flowers without petals (male and
female flowers on separate plants). Leaves (about ¾ to 2 inches long) alternate,
arrowhead-shaped with flaring, pointed lobes towards the base. (Photographed – June) |
