Smooth Serviceberry

A shrub or small tree in moist woodlands or near the lakeshore with white 5-petalled flowers, with each separated petal longer than wide, in hanging groups. Alernate, oblong, finely toothed leaves that are coppery colored when the leaves are unfolding at flowering time. Branchlets purplish when young with older stems gray and smooth.
