Red-twigged Serviceberry

A perennial low shrub with new branches reddish-brown, but older stems smooth and gray. White 5-petalled flowers, with each separated petal longer than wide, in pendant groups. Leaves alternate with a rounded tip and coarse teeth ending before the rounded to heart-shaped base.
