Mint Family - Labiatae
Small (about 3/8 inches long), irregularly shaped, violet to bluish flowers with two prominent lips. Flowers in tufts or whorls at the leaf axils. Calyx appears furrowed and terminates in 5 sharply pointed and curved teeth. Stem squarish and hairy. Leaves small, opposite, elliptical and entire or with a few teeth.

An erect (4 to 18 inches tall) herb with aromatic leaves and stems, and branching stems that tend to spread outwards and upwards from the base of each plant.
