Small (about 3/8 inches long), irregularly shaped, violet to bluish flowers with
two prominent lips. Flowers in tufts or whorls at the leaf axils. Calyx appears
furrowed and terminates in 5 sharply pointed and curved teeth. Stem squarish and
hairy. Leaves small, opposite, elliptical and entire or with a few teeth. (Photographed - late June) |
An erect (4 to 18 inches tall) herb with aromatic leaves and stems, and branching
stems that tend to spread outwards and upwards from the base of each plant. |
