Flowers, which may be bisexual or unisexual, composed of 4 or 5 greenish-white to
white petals. Leaf veins alternate and tend to end in a network near the margin
rather then extend to the edge. Fruit a round, red, berry-like drupe. (Photographed - early July and early September) |
Generally erect shrubs (9 to 12' tall) bearing many clusters of 1 to 3 small, short
stalked flowers at the base of oval, finely toothed, sharp-pointed, rather thick,
alternating leaves. |
