Flowers (½ to ¾ inches long) are greenish-white with a protruding style and have
pale green to pinkish bracts on the tubular part of the flower head. Leaves alternate
and usually toothed, but variable in shape; stem leaves egg-shaped to triangular
and more basal leaves either triangular, lobed or even divided. (Photographed – late August) |
This upright plant (2 to 6 feet tall) with rather sparse leaves and groups of short-stalked
nodding flowers was found at the edge of woods adjacent to a marsh. |
