Snapdragon Family - Scrophulariaceae

Flowers 3/4 to 1 inch wide with 5 petals. Leaves large (up to 1 foot long), soft and velvety with the basal ones stalked and arranged in a whorl, while upper leaves are stalkless, entire and alternate. (Photographed - July and August)

A tall plant with a pale green, very hairy stem and leaves and a spike of densely packed yellow flowers.
