Miterwort or Bishop's Cap |
Mitella diphylla |
Saxifrage Family - Saxifragaceae |
In addition to a long spike of tiny, white, fairly evenly spaced flowers, the stem
at its middle has a single pair of leaves. Each of the 5 petals is intricately
dissected so that the flower resembles a snowflake. (Photographed - May) |
Stem leaves are opposite, stalkless, toothed and mainly three lobed, while the basal
leaves are long-stalked, similarly lobed and heart-shaped. |
