Upright to straggling much branched herb from to 1 foot tall. Tiny pink or white flowers in a compact, cylindrical spike. Alternating narrow leaves that have a central, dark, triangular to crescent-shaped blotch. Stems reddish and distinctly jointed with a fringed, thin sheath at each joint.
