Small, pale blue two-lipped flowers with the 2-lobed upper lip split in the middle and an obvious 3-lobed lower lip. A 6 inch to 3 foot herb with a hairy stem that is usually branched. A distinctive feature is the swollen calyx (base of flower) as it becomes a seed pod. Leaves alternate and toothed.
