A low shrub (2 to 3 feet tall) with opposite leaves with an oblong shape, untoothed
margins and a white color beneath. Terminal leaves fused into a cup shape from
the center of which projects a cluster of orange to reddish, two-lipped flowers,
each about ½ to ¾ inches long. Eventually a cluster of red berries develops.
