Hairy stems bear a single flower (0.5 � 1 inch wide) usually with 6 petal-like sepals (may vary from 6 to 12) that are either pink, white or pale blue. Below the sepals are 3 green bracts with pointed tips. (Photographed � late April)
Rather leathery, thickish, reddish-green basal leaves with 3 deep lobes. See also round-lobed hepatica.
