Orchid Family - Orchidaceae

Purple to greenish-purple flowers (1/2 to 3/4" wide) in an erect raceme. The 3 or 4 leaves are egg-shaped with the stalk clasping the main stem. (Photographed - early August)

An orchid introduced from Europe to the Syracuse, NY area in the 1890's.
