Flower heads ¾ to 1¼ inches wide with 6 to 8 yellow ray flowers (sometimes absent)
and yellowish brown to dark brown disk flowers. Leaves elongated (up to 6 inches
long), without stalks, opposite, and with or without marginal teeth. Stems
often hairy. (Photographed – August) |
An annual herb, often in dense stands in swamps or wet fields, with many flower heads
that tend to nod as the flower ages. |
