With numerous small overlapping scale-like leaves, there is a resemblance to cedar
leaves. Single or forked stalks (2 to 6 inches long) arise from some branches
and bear cylindrical spore-bearing cones (strobila). (Photographed - August) |
A low plant (3 to 10 inches tall) with many forked branches (flattened in one plane)
arising from a main creeping stem either on the ground or just below the surface.
