Flowerheads preferentially located on the upper side of arching stalks and flaring branches. Heads yellow, small (about 1/6 inch long) and composed of 6 to 10 ray flowers and 4 to 7 disk flowers.

Generally a tall herb with a hairy stem and rough feeling, deeply veined leaves. Leaves elliptical, sharply toothed and alternate.
