Evening Primrose Family - Onagraceae

A tall (2 to 8') herb with a long terminal spike of 4-petalled deep pink to magenta flowers (about 1" wide). Stamens (8) prominent and the style ends in a curled 4-part stigma. (Photographed - July)

Leaves willow-like, alternate, entire or faintly toothed and pale below.
