Buckwheat Family - Polygonaceae

Leaves long, narrow and pointed with noticeably wavy margins. Seed enclosed by a reddish brown "3-winged" calyx; seed wings heart-shaped. (Photographed - late June)

A tall weed with many, small, greenish flowers in an elongated, narrow, branching cluster at the end of a stout stem.
