Clintonia borealis

Each flower, about 1 inch long, has three yellow petal-like sepals and three petals all of which curve backwards. Six prominent stamens. (Photographed with Elizabeth and Martin Lee - early June)

A plant of moist woods about 6 to 15 inches tall.

The stalk arising from 2 to 4 (usually 3) oblong, bright green basal leaves (5 to 8 inches long) bears 3 to 6 hanging, bell-like yellow to greenish-yellow flowers (umbel).
