Narrow leaves (1 to 3 inches long) in whorls of 6 to 8. tiny, white, 4-petalled flowers in groups of 2 to 3 at the end of relatively long  stalks arising from leaf axils. Fruit also with d hooks producing a bristly appearance.

A straggling, weak-stemmed, bright green herb tending to form tangled masses. Stems and leaves with hook-like prickles.
