Sunflower Family - Asteraceae

Leaves variable in size and shape with larger and basal ones lobed or toothed and possibly clasping the stem. (Photographed - late July)

Blue, stalkless flowerheads (~1.5" wide) spaced along a stiff stem. Only ray flowers present with square-tipped petals having many distinct notches and with dark blue fused anthers.
