Leaves alternate, darkish green, egg-shaped but pointed and edged with fine, sharp teeth.

At a roadside, this small tree has spreading, angular branches without thorns, but with short spur-like shoots. In spring, plentiful pinkish-white flowers with many stamens bearing yellow anthers.
