Aster novae-angliae

Sunflower Family - Asteraceae

Flowerheads composed of 35 to 50 ray flowers and central yellowish-orange disk flowers.

A stout, hairy stem ends in multiple branchs bearing lavender to violet-purple flowerheads (1 to 2" wide).

Leaves lance-shaped, 1.5 to 5" long, and entire with a heart-shaped base clasping the stem. (Photographed - August)
