Three prominently ribbed leaflets with coarse teeth. Leaf surfaces slightly hairy and velvety. Fruit black. (Photographed - June and July)

Prickly erect to slightly arching stems bear racemes of 5-petalled, white flowers (about 1" wide) with petals longer than sepals.
