Flower heads with 15 to 30 ray flowers and a brownish-yellow central disk.
Along roadsides and in meadows, this rather bushy aster (1 to 4 feet tall) with smooth to hairy reddish, much branching stems has numerous, small (about � inch wide), white flower heads.
Leaves slender, often only lower ones toothed, and with small leaflets at the axils. (Photographed � late August)
