A 1 to 2 foot tall group of stems with narrow, light green leaves (edges roughened)
somewhat taller than the main stem. Flower clusters with a stalked, slender
male spike and 1 to 4 sessile to short-stalked female spikes. Perigynia numerous,
crowded, green with an elongated beak tipped with 2 teeth. Scales narrow, bristle
