The white to bluish-violet flowers (about 2.5 inches wide), composed only of 5 to
7 sepals, have many yellow stamens and pistils. Basal leaves about 3 inches long,
also covered with silky hairs and intricately cut into narrow segments. (Photographed at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden - April 24th) |
The relatively large flowers of this 6 to 16 inch tall silky-haired plant emerge
in the early spring before the leaves. |
