This relatively short plant (6 to 10 inches tall) flowers in early spring. The upright,
multilobed (generally 5 to 9 lobes), pale green basal leaf tends to curl
around the flower stalk. Flowers are white, about 1 to 1.5 inches wide, and have
8 to 10 separate petals, many stamens and a single pistil. (Photographed at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden - April 24th) |
