Mint Family - Labiatae
Generally a 3 to 5 foot tall herb with a square stem and a prominent flat head composed of many red, tubular flowers with 2 stamens projecting beyond the narrow upper lip. Bracts associated with each flower head are reddish. Leaves opposite, toothed, oval to lance-shaped and 3 to 6 inches long.
